At Catalpa Apiary & Bee Company, beekeeping is more than a business, it's built on a family tradition rooted in hard work, respect for the land, and a deep appreciation for the tiny creatures that make such a big difference.
Located on Williams Family Farm in Griffintown, Tennessee, our apiary is surrounded by all the natural beauty of the Volunteer State, where bees forage freely among wildflowers, native plants, and trees - including our namesake tree - the beautiful Catalpa tree - which was planted by our grandparents and continue to grow today.
We believe great honey starts with healthy bees. That's why we focus on responsible, hands-on beekeeping practices that prioritize hive health, sustainability, and minimal intervention. The honey produced reflects the land it comes from - raw, pure, and naturally delicious.
History
Williams Family Farm has been a part of this land for generations. Long before the first Catalpa Apiary & Bee Company hive was constructed, the values that guide our apiary today were already taking root here - hard work, stewardship, and a deep respect for nature.
The farm itself was established in 1945 when our grandfather purchased the property while he was still serving in World War II. Through the years, the farm has been built by family hands, shared labor, and the belief that caring for the land means caring for the future. Over the years, the property has evolved, but its purpose has remained the same: to produce, to provide, and to preserve.
Beekeeping became a natural extension of that legacy. Drawn to the vital role bees play in agriculture and the environment, our family introduced hives to the farm as a way to support pollination, protect biodiversity, and create something truly connected to the land. The Catalpa tree - a longtime fixture on the property - inspired the name Catalpa Apiary & Bee Company, serving as a symbol of roots, resilience, and continuity.
Today, Catalpa Apiary & Bee Company stands as a bridge between past and present - carrying forward a family legacy while contributing to a healthier ecosystem for generations to come.
